MEMORIAL DAY RIDE

As we do every year, we do
a ride for Memorial Day. So
after a few calls we had a group
ready to ride. We decided to go
to Craig and then to Maybel
and back to Meeker through
Strawberry Pass.
I was running a little late so the group was
already waiting for me.
Betsy had some new bling, bling on her ride
and was happy to show it off.
Grabbing a few pictures. After making sure everyone that was coming had showed up, we were ready to head out.
The weather was beautiful and the sky
was clear.
The rains have everything looking green.
Coming into Meeker, it was clear that the
run off was still going on. The White River
was running very high.
For the Memorial Day weekend , there
isn't much traffic on the road, Perfect...
After a short stop in Meeker and a round of
"shake the crapper" while Joe was inside,
we headed to Craig.
The wind picked up just outside of Craig
so we stopped for a little fuel and warm up.
I was in dire need of a bathroom break, but
I was not about to use the port-a-john
in Meeker (HEHE).
Betsy had finally had enough crap from
Joe and was fixing to clean his clock.
Some of the old group and some of the new
getting acquainted. Its always easy when
you ride.
Now that's just more than one camera
should have to endure.
Steve off to knock over another Doritos
van, I would like to say this was the first
time, but I can't...
The breeze is a little cool so it is cap time.
Nothing like candy to make a gal smile. :)
We stopped in Maybel for lunch
at a little mom and pop place.
Steve Carter had a new bike-mounted
camera and was dying to put it to use.
As you can see, the clouds are really rolling
in and the temp has dropped.
Here we come.
There we go.
Steve on his new bike. It is a rice one.
Him and Betsy gabbing while
waiting for me to catch up after
taking some pictures of the group.
Steve's camera takes some neat pictures.
This valley on Strawberry Pass is beautiful,
especially in the spring.
We hit a few raindrops and it started
clearing up. I can live with that.
Heading back to Meeker for a fill up.
A soda and some chit chat.
Fueled up and ready to putt our way
back home.
What a great day for a ride, even
the clouds are pretty.
This neat old building is still
standing.
With it being Memorial Day, it was a must
that we stop off at the new veteran's
memorial park.
This kill deer had laid her eggs right
next to the side walk and were hard
to see at first.
These old howitzers stand guard.

daughter's name on the stones for those
who have served.
The Dedication stone.
These stones have the name of those who
have served from West Garfield County.

including myself.

A memorable Memorial Day
indeed, a great ride with
friends and time spent
remembering those who
have served this great
